OPEN LETTER: WE SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC IN WHITE CENTER

We, the undersigned, stand in strong support of Tim’s Tavern, and of live music as an essential part of the cultural and economic fabric of White Center and unincorporated King County.

Tim’s Tavern is more than a bar or music venue — it’s a neighborhood hub. A place where artists, neighbors, and families gather. A place where culture lives, creativity thrives, and community is built. Since moving to White Center in 2023, Tim’s has hosted hundreds of shows, fundraisers, and cultural events — always with a focus on respect, safety, and inclusion.

We believe that live music belongs in White Center.

We also believe that a small, unelected group — the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council (NHUAC) — does not speak for our community. Their efforts to silence Tim’s and limit outdoor music do not reflect the views of the artists, residents, and small business owners who actually live and work here.

We are calling on King County to:

  • Protect and support venues like Tim’s Tavern

  • Reform outdated zoning laws that threaten outdoor music

  • Prioritize cultural vibrancy, not compliance overreach

This issue is bigger than one venue — it’s about what kind of future we want for White Center.

Live music is not a crime. It’s a community asset — and we stand together to defend it.
